2012 Government - Is There a Conspiracy?

There is information and rumours about the end of humanity everywhere, though it has cropped up a lot more on the web in the last few years. The latest version that has become quite popular is that the world will end on December 21, 2012. The end date of the ancient Mayan calendar is December 21, 2012.In addition, the ancient Nostrodamus forecast disasters in the weeks before the date of 21 December 2012.

The end of the world has always fascinated many people who have imagined and even tried to predict what it will be like. They base this on one of Nostradamus' prophecies regarding a planet that will approach the earth and could alter the earth's gravitational pull and knock the earth off its axis. Such an event would also rip the planet's crust apart, leading to other disasters that would kill almost everyone on the planet. Only a few would survive such an event, and those who did survive are believed to have been selected by the government which is actively protecting their lives.

The issue of the few who would be saved has generated a critical question. And out of this have risen several other conspiracy theories. One of the most widespread conspiracy theories is that the government will secretly protect a few thousand people in order to preserve the future of humanity. This theory supposes that the list of survivors will include those in power in government and corporations, those who can bear children and are healthy, and those who can maintain and continue to develop technology.
These chosen ones will live in bunkers that have been set up and supplied with the necessities to sustain hundreds of survivors for a few years. The underground bunker will serve as a shelter to protect those who are living within.

As well as the necessities of food and water in the bunkers, they will also have items such as seeds for growing their own produce over the years. By supplying the seeds in these bunkers, new life will be sustained going forward. Many believe that it will be years or decades before the earth's aboveground soil would be able to grow and sustain plant life.

A theory like this one seems impossible to fathom. A common question is whether the government is attempting to maintain calm among the populace while some openly question about the upcoming events. Those who beleive in these theories question who will be the chosen people on the list to be saved.

No actual scientific evidence can be offered that these events will occur, and it is important to acknowledge that there are many things that could threaten to harm our species and our planet well ahead of the year 2012. There are possibilities of nature taking its toll against our species, an asteroid strike or something such as a flu pandemic, or a nuclear war. We have no guarantees in our lives, but by being ready for the likely events we can increase our likelihood of surviving them.
